Enabling artificial intelligence (AI) through high performance computing (HPC) in a sustainable manner is at the forefront of our business here at Borealis Data Center. In response, we’ve added two new experts to the team, enabling us to continue offering reliable, energy, and cost-effective data center services to our customers, while expanding more rapidly into new markets.
The demand for AI and HPC continues to be a key driver of company growth. With the addition of Marcel van Drunen as Director of technical Pre-sales HPC & AI and Partnerships, we will be able to keep up with the demand for these technologies and strengthen our pre-sales services. Marcel’s experience and industry connections will play a pivotal role in our ability to continue to deliver on our goal to offer best-in-class, sustainable services.
This demand for sustainable, zero waste options and high performing data centers amongst customers in the German speaking regions is of particular importance to Borealis. And we couldn’t be happier to have Michael Endres join the team to lead the sales strategy in the region as Sales Manager, DACH.
Marcel and Michael will be at ISC Hamburg May 13-16, 2024. Michael will also be in attendance at DCW Frankfurt May 22-23, 2024. Contact to book your meetings:

Learn more about Marcel and Michael’s experience and expertise below:
Marcel van Drunen, Director of technical pre-sales HPC & AI and partnerships
For the past seventeen years, Marcel led the technical pre sales team for HPC and AI at Dell Technologies in EMEA. In this role he and his team of experts helped world-class academic and commercial customers design and build HPC and AI systems. Some of those systems were ranked high in the TOP500 and Green500 lists. Before his time at Dell Technologies, Marcel held various technical consulting positions in storage, high availability and data management, including seven years at Unisys EMEA. Marcel studied mathematics and applied computer science at the university of Delft in the Netherlands.
Marcel is well connected to many of the key players in the HPC and AI industry enabling him to advise current and future customers on running their heavy workloads as efficiently as possible in their data centers. An important part of his role will therefore be to maintain and extend his already vast technical and commercial network, fostering powerful partnerships that will help Borealis Data Center guide their HPC and AI customers towards a more sustainable future.
Michael Endres, Sales Manager DACH
Michael joins Borealis with 28 years of sales experience in the technology industry under his belt. Ten of those years were spent working on the Carrier Tier 1 (AT&T, Verizon) top 200 global accounts and partner business and another ten in the data center sector. Michael specializes in automotive and enterprise business for high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, colocation, and sustainability. His invaluable experience in the introduction of new services and the development of new business in the German-speaking and global markets, will support Borealis to expand further into those markets.
Some of his key career highlights include working on the launch of Vodafone’s cloud and hosting services with e-Shelter, building the automotive sector during his time at Equinix, and most recently serving as Sales Director DACH at Bulk DC Infrastructure AS and AtNorth.
