Efficient Computing is Our Goal!
Increasing Efficiency While Reducing Lifetime Costs
The core mission of the Open Compute Project is to oversee and implement guidelines for a growing ecosystem of approved OCP colocation and solution providers with the aim of increasing efficiency while reducing lifetime costs when deploying, managing, and storing infrastructure at large scale. The internal logos of the project does this by rethinking and redesigning the way’s servers, networks and storage facilities are built and operated. And with the unprecedented digital growth that is foreseeable in the near future, the need for sustainable energy and energy efficiency becomes a vital part of future integration into a more digitalized and data driven society. Therefore, at its heart, the Open compute project is concerned with both data center and software efficiency. As the global growth of data center electricity demand must be tackled on multiple fronts including hardware design integrated with data center design and total lifetime cost measured in both CO2 and money. As a requirement data centers ensure that their facilities are able to accommodate racks of OCP approved weights and dimensions effortlessly and to be able to deploy multiple racks of such hardware at scale. In addition, the density of compute - to meet scale demands and efficiency goals - raises the bar for power and cooling specifications.
Why OCP end-Users are interested in OCP approved Colocation
For current and prospective OCP Users it allows them to review the attributes of a facility and determine with confidence if a Colocation Provider has the right facility to accommodate the OCP Open Racks and IT gear standard.
Borealis Data Center is Ideal for OCP Colocation
Borealis data center is well suited to accommodate prepopulated OCP racks, with all our certified sites, building layouts and pathways fully compliant with the colocation facility guidelines for Open Racks. At the same time, our modular design approach makes sure that we are compliant, flexible and able to accommodate new technologies and cooling trends, such as liquid cooling, in accordance with client requirements.
